At the end of the wall is the promenade with one of the best views of the New York City skyline. The Twin Towers used to stand here, impossibly tall, dwarfing everything else around.

While the walls are over 30 feet high, the names are engraved along the lower portions. I've seen photos of people tracing over the names of people they lost. This woman, with her family, touches the name of someone that they clearly miss.

The bent and sheared bolts (at least 1" in diameter) suggest the horrific forces of that day. Loved ones leave flowers and photos in memory of those lost.

The mood is very reflective and somber here, and the people visiting seem to come from all corners of the globe. New Jersey is a truly diverse state, and the names on the walls and the people here today show that.

in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey, is Empty Sky, a Memorial to the 746 New Jerseyans that died on 9/11. Two stainless steel walls, separated by a walkway, point across the Hudson River to where the World Trade Center once stood. Engraved on the walls are the names of the victims.
