So one of my New Year's Resolutions is to take fewer pictures. That's right, to shoot less. I took over 40,000 photos last year, and while I've got a ton of hard drive space I don't have a ton of time to really go through them. There are probably some nice photos in there that will never see the light of day simply because I don't have the time for the. That goes for prior years too.
The goal this year is to bring more photos to light by taking fewer of them. There's an old quote attributed to Mark Twain, "I didn't have time to write you a short letter, so I wrote you a long one." How true that is of photography as well.
So here's to fewer photos and more editing in 2013! I'll dance to that!
The quote is actually from Blaise (Oh!) Pascal: "Je n'ai fait cette lettre - ci plus longue que parce que je n'ai pas eu le loisir de la faire plus courte" ("I have made this letter longer than usual, only because I have not had time to make it shorter")
ReplyDeleteI talk about the concept of "photo debt"; the amount of unprocessed stuff you have yet to deal with.
There are approximately 7 people in the whole world that get that inside joke. Maybe fewer. Thanks though for the proper attribution.
